FAQ of the Freedom Team This draft document is work-in-progress
Question 4: What is the main purpose of this group? If it is merely to *discuss* and propose various ideas, this is a think tank NOT a political party...and we may or may not need leaders but thinkers!
The purpose of FTI is “to provide a coordinated platform to 550 candidates to be offered to the people of India in each general election.”
This is an explicit political purpose, even though FTI is not (at least not yet) a political association or a group. It members will DIRECTLY and PERSONALLY contest elections. To contest elections it is not necessary to be a member of amy political party. Any Indian citizen can contest elections by paying a security deposit of Rs. 10,000. The reason sensible people don’t do that is because it is not a sensible thing to do, being guaranteed to fail. That is why the need for this coordinated platform, which could, in due course, evolve into something more formal, if its 1500 CONTESTING members feel it is necessary.
It will NOT formalise itself into any form or shape until all 1500 CONTESTING members are fully ready and primed to contest elections. Formalising too early is a weakness, not strength.
FTI will bring together a coordinated and sustained effort for good people to form government in India at all levels.
The FTI is not the following: - an advisory group to any party or group - a think tank - a training institution for political leaders - a magazine or journal which writes articles on policy - a fund raising organisation - an NGO or a charity - a private company
