FAQ of the Freedom Team This draft document is work-in-progress
Question 6: “If I am potential *leader* (i.e. willing to contest elections at some point), what is the *advantage* to me of joining this group? Is it in having an established cadre/support base? Is it in having access to resources (crudely speaking money)? Is it in having access to some organised support (e.g. FICCI, CII, trade unions etc)?
The value of FTI to potential (good) leaders who may be considering joining FTI is very clear. · They are very likely to not get elected on their own. · They are very likely to not find an existing political group in India which is firmly grounded in ethical principles and principles of freedom. · They are very likely to fail to raise resources alone. · They are very likely not to find other like minded people, if they head out alone.
In the face of this guarantee of failure, FTI offers a clear headed ‘business’ model based on mutual interest and professionalism, based on quality control and emphasis on leadership development and strategic dissemination of the message. Its model is focused on results.
The value proposition works as follows: Our sale pitch to potential donors is going to be simple: “We will triple your bottomline. We will try to create an environment whereby your children will find opportunities to stay in India and look after you in your old age. We will implement only world best practice policy, and we will ensure good governance at all levels. No one else has done that or can do that except us. We have the capability to do it. Others can’t, nor have been able to deliver.” BUT This sales pitch cannot work unless we have 1500 outstanding people with us first! So, to potential leaders, we say, “You can’t succeed without FTI and FTI can’t succeed without you!” That is the ‘trade’ or bargain. Q.E.D.
This means that the FTI has to constantly work to enhance its credibility. Professionals and leaders who have a base in India or prior record of activity, or people with a visible profile or special skills especially need to be invited to FTI. Failures in (i) {why isn't the message getting through?} and (ii) {why are capable people not convinced?} need to be constantly analysed and remedied.
